Bilingual broadside in French and German posted during Napoleon's second occupation of Vienna. The notice demands that the population contribute their subsistence and housing to the French occupying forces. It is interesting to note that a version of this Broadside currently housed in the permanent collection of the University of California at Berkeley appears on the internet in French only. Germany. Engraving. Image measures 12.75" x 7.75". This fine engraving depicts Charles François Dumouriez, the French Revolutionary General. Posted resolutely in front of a tree that mirrors his firm stature, Dumouriez is shown with his sword in hand, fearlessly and even threateningly admiring the sharp tip of his weapon. Lithograph with hand coloring. 10.5" x 15.25". Shows some repairs at verso. In very good condition. An image juxtaposing two leaders, Louis Kossuth of Hungary and Louis Napoleon of France. Kossuth is shown at left holding out the Constitution of Hungary to an adoring crowd; the caption reads, "Kossuth having returned to 'Hungary' achieves the 'Liberty' of 'Fatherland' & is surrounded by the 'Blessings' & Enthusiastic 'Acclamations' of his Liberated People."
