John Mirfeld, a monkish physician who worked in the cloisters of St. Bartholomew in the second half of the 14th century, wrote a glossary and a breviary to the treatise of Bartholomaeus Anglicus. They were the first writings of a medical nature known to be associated with any English Hospital.
