Incredibly detailed map of Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine, extending from Rafah to the Taurus Mountains. Major cities, rivers and hydrological features, important structures, and topographical details are labeled. Roads are carefully delineated, showing major routes, Roman roads, and the Hajj. An inset in the lower right corner of the southern sheet depicts the Environs of Jerusalem. In very good condition.
Blackie & Son was a published house based in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London in the 19th century. Founded by John Blackie (Sr.) in 1809 has Blackie, Fullarton, & Company, his son John Jr. joined the business following Fullarton's retirement in 1831, and the name changed to Blackie and Son. The firm initially specialized in books sold by subscription, primarily religious texts and reference books, but later became known for educational texts and children's books. Binding: Unbound
