Large embossed print showing the US Constitution in the style of a medieval illuminated manuscript. Features the first five paragraphs of the US Constitution with an embellished portrait of George Washington. A decorative border surrounds the text, featuring various revolutionary battle scenes and portraits of generals.
Designed by N. Leoni (1862-1947) an Italian painter and illuminator, known for reviving the medieval art form. Leoni spent ten years working on the illumination of the US Constitution, completing them in Rome to be exhibited in New York City. He partnered with New York bookseller George D. Sproul on the publication. Printed by United States Printing & Lithgraphic Co., New York.
