Corn Kernel

New York: Fortune, 1938.

Pictorial infographic. Color lithograph. Measures 14" x 11"

This fascinating diagram depicts all the products derived from a corn plant, illustrating how the germ is separated from the kernel. Various processes separate the gluten, dry starches, dextrins, syrups, sugars, refined dextrose, and germ oil, with a wide range of products created from these parts of the corn plant. Verso features a black and white painting of Vancouver, opening up to a map of Canada by Richard Edes Harrison. In very good condition. This map appeared in the September 1938 issue of Fortune Magazine. Boris Artzybasheff (1899-1965) was a Russian-American artist, most well known for his magazine and commercial illustrations.
