This finely detailed engraving is an admission ticket designed by G.B. Cipriani and engraved by Francesco Bartolozzi in the early 1780s. It was made for a specific private or subscription ball hosted by (or benefiting) a Mr. Fierville. Signed in ink verso 'Mrs. Halsey'. It features three putti, two dancing and one playing musical instruments. In very good condition.

Francesco Bartolozzi (1727-1815) was an Italian engraver who spent his most productive years in London, where he served as Engraver to King George III and became a founding member of the Royal Academy.

Giovanni Battista Cipriani (1727-1785) was an Italian-born painter, draughtsman, and designer who became a key early exponent of Neoclassicism in England. He moved from Florence to London in the mid-1750s, where he spent the rest of his life producing elegant classical and allegorical designs for paintings, decorative schemes, book illustrations, and engraved prints, many of which were engraved by his close collaborator Francesco Bartolozzi.
