Very scarce full signature with rank, (removed from a document) "Geo. W. Booth - Lieutenant, March 27th 1865." Measures 1 x 3.5 inches. Uneven right edge, but still very good condition.

George Wilson Booth was a Confederate soldier who served under Stonewall Jackson and other prominent generals. George W. Booth was a teenager (17 years old) and a member of the Maryland militia at the time of the 1861 Baltimore riot before joining the Confederacy. He served for four years in the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia.He fought in major battles, including both Manassas battles, the Peninsula campaign, and the Valley campaign.He served under multiple generals, including Jackson, "Grumble" Jones, Dick Ewell, Jubal Early, and John Imboden.He was wounded at Greenland Gap and later promoted to Captain. After the war, he wrote his "Personal reminiscences of a Maryland soldier in the war".
