1886 advertisement for Hale's Honey of Horehound and Tar, a popular cough remedy at the time, printed in Vick's Illustrated Monthly. Hale's remedy was produced by The Charles N. Crittenton Propriety (later C.N. Crittenton Company) and was marketed as a "cure of coughs, colds, bronchitis, difficult breathing, and all affections of the throat, bronchial tubes, and lungs leading to consumption [tuberculosis]". James Vick started his career as a type setter, and went on to create numerous horticultural publications and his own seed company in Rochester, NY. The image is in very good condition. On the verso is an ad for the Waterbury Watch Co.
