This diptych features two maps of the Polar Regions. Incredibly detailed, the map indicates cities, towns, rivers, topographical details, mountain peaks and their heights, islands and islets. The North Polar Regions map features three inset maps: Spitzbergen, Franz Josef Land, and Ellesmere Island with parts of northern Greenland. Colored outline shows the progress of exploration by date. The South Polar Regions map features insets of the South Shetland Islands, and the coastline of "Victoria Land" along Ross Sea. Two tables on each map lists Arctic and Antarctic explorers and the dates of their expeditions, corresponding to routes indicated on the map. This map appeared in the 1907 edition of the Harmsworth Universal Atlas and Gazetteer. In very good condition, with one closed tear to upper margin.
