Striking Piranesi print of a large ancient bas-relief at the Villa Lanti on Mount Gianicolo, in Rome. The vase is adorned with eight heads of Fauns and Silvani. The print is in very good condition, with minor scuffs. Creased at centerfold and slightly to left margin. Otherwise clean and bright with a beautiful dark impression.
Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778), was best known for his printmaking skills. He was first trained as an architect but it was his love for architecture discipline that propelled his meticulous, yet imaginative etchings of interior design. Binding: Unbound
