This rare and desirable bird's-eye view map of Dartmouth College, in New Hampshire, produced by watercolor artist A. K. D. Healy in the late 1940s or early 1950s, showcases the campus and surrounding town under a fresh snowfall. The map, centered on Dartmouth Green, provides detailed depictions of numerous college buildings, including dorms, libraries, observatories, and fraternities, extending into Hanover. The presence of the Connecticut River is noted in the western part of the map. Unique for its winter setting, the map reflects the typical experience of students in the Northeast. It can be dated before the mid-1950s due to the absence of dormitories along Choate Road. In good condition with minor foxing.
Arthur Kelly David Healy (1902-1978) was an accomplished artist, architect, and educator. Born in New York City, Healy pursued a diverse career that included architecture, public works, and fine arts. He worked as an architectural engineer at the Portsmouth Navy Yard and served as a supervisor for the Public Works Administration. Healy is known for his landscapes, wildlife illustrations, and architectural works. His work is represented in numerous museums and private collections. Binding: Unbound
