Ancient Paris; Ile de la Cite
Manuscript map. Pencil crayon and ink on thick Vidalon-Les-Annonay paper. 9 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches.
Carefully drawn map featuring Ile de la Cite in ancient times. The street of Old Drapery, also called street of the Drapery, is featured and is a famous ancient street of Paris that was demolished as the city modernized. It extends from Rue de la Barillerie, to Rue aux Fevres -which was demolished around 1860. Lovely orange pencil shading and tidy labeling in ink gives the map an official look.
