Flower bouquet with fruit
Watercolor and gouache on pith paper. Tipped onto a backing sheet at each corner and bordered by strips of embroidered fabric. A few splits in the left margin but otherwise in good condition. 10 1/4 x 14 1/4 inches.
Accomplished painting of a botanical arrangement, from China for the export market, undated but early 19th century. Beautifully painted with a tiny butterfly, flowers and fruit flowing over the page.
