This beautiful 18th century engraving depicts four vibrant red spotted eggs resting on a bed of feathers in a hollowed tree stump, representing a Eurasian eagle-owl's nest.

Adam Ludwig Wirsing (1733-1797) was a German engraver and publisher based in Nuremberg. In very good condition, with minor scattered foxing and some soiling to outer margin, not affecting the image. Wirsing created the work after Barbara Dietzsch to appear as watercolors. Barbara Regina Dietzsch (1706 - 1783) was a Bavarian painter and engraver known for her still life paintings.
