Intricate miniature map depicts the Maldives, a double chain of coral atolls situated in the Arabian Sea. Beautifully depicted, a dozen nearly uniform clusters of islands, arranged from the northwest to the southeast corners of the page. The map is in very good condition. Original centerfold.

Pierre Duval (1618-1683) was the nephew and apprentice of Nicolas Sanson. His widow Marie Desmartz Duval and two daughters continued his business in Paris into the early 18th century. This map was published his " Le Monde Terrestre".
