Beautifully illustrated map of France showing the department of Alpes-Maritimes, located in the southeastern corner bordering Italy. Features cities such as Cannes and Nice, as well as the Principality of Monaco. Inset shows a bird's eye view of Nice, and portraits of Jean-Dominique Cassini, the Italian mathematician and astronomer, and Andre Massena, the French military commander. Prepared by J. Migeon (fl. c. 1855 - 1899) who was a late 19th century map publisher based in Paris. His most prominent publication was his "Geographie Universal" in 1854, which was updated through 1874. Revised by Alexandre Vuillemin in 1878. Alexandre Vuillemin (1812-1880) who was a cartographer and an book editor based in Paris, and studied under the prominent French Auguste Henri Dufour (1798-1865).
