Handsome Free Frank on a full integral addressed sheet, 4to. 1 page, Baltimore, accomplished c. 1812, signed: "S. Smith". Boldly signed and in fine condition.

Revolutionary War officer and Lt. Colonel in the Continental Army who was sent by George Washington to the Delaware River to stall the British occupation of Philadelphia. After the war, as a Major General, he commanded a Maryland force in the suppression of the Whiskey Rebellion. During the War of 1812 he commanded during the Battle of Baltimore.
