Item #282803 Photographic postcard. Anna PAPADOPOULOU.

Photographic postcard.

1929.

Very scarce real-life photographic postcard, sepia, 3 ½" X 5 ½" depicting her in full military uniform with her twenty-eight medals and wearing a religious habit - her hand presumably resting on a Bible. Boldly inscribed from Manna, September 1929, the sanitarium in which she would ultimately die from Tuberculosis: "For Mr. Kelsey, with best love. Manna A. Papadopoulou." Exceptional contrast.

The Greek Mother Theresa. Humanitarian of Greek nobility who dedicated her life to relief efforts through the newly founded Greek Red Cross, serving at the front throughout the two Balkan Wars (1912-1922. She devoted her post-war life to the struggle against Tuberculosis by raising funds for the construction of sanitariums in Athens and Arcadia.
