Begun in 1809, and first published in 1812, Dr. Syntax contains Thomas Rowlandson's most famous illustrations. This copy lacks a printed title page, but is apparently a first as there is no indication of its being a later edition on the engraved title page. The plates as well as the text are clean and sharp.
