This original croquis from the designer Christian Dior features an outfit from the Winter 1974/75 collection. This croquis was made from a xerograph of an original drawing, which was then hand-colored with ink, watercolor, and gouache. The design shows three views of a jacket, vest, shirt, and skirt combination. Three swatches of the appropriate fabrics--light brown wool, burgundy muslin, and burgundy and white wool--are stapled to the sheet. These sketches were produced in a limited quantity and presented to potential clients in attendance at the Paris Couture shows held by Dior in the spring and fall of each year. This example is in good condition and makes a wonderful document for any lover of fashion.
