This original croquis from the designer Pierre Balmain was made from a xerograph of an original drawing. The design shows three views of a jacket and dress combination. The dress has a tie detail at the collar as well as a belt. Swatches of the appropriate fabric, cream muslin and cream jersey, are stapled to the sheet. These sketches were produced in a limited quantity and presented to potential clients in attendance at the Paris Couture shows held by Balmain in the spring and fall of each year. This example is in good condition and makes a wonderful document for any lover of fashion.
