Captain George Francis Lyon lived in Mexico as one of the commissioners of the English Compania de Real del Monte, a silver mining company. On his way back to England, the ship he was on was wrecked and all his papers and mineral specimens were lost. Earlier in his life, Captain Lyon, explored the Arctic and searched for the source of the Niger River in Africa. This copy has a title-page for volumes one and two.
