Theodorick Bland was a physician in Virginia before the American Revolution. On June 13, 1776, he began his service in the Continental Army as a captain. Bland was later promoted to Colonel and finished his service in November, 1779. After the war ended, he served several terms in the Virginia House of Delegates and was one of the Congressmen from Virginia elected to the first term of the United States House of Representatives. This volume has Bland's letters and other papers beginning from 1744 through 1780. "Important collection of material on the Revolution." Howes B-519.
