Splendid original oil portrait, by Henry Inman; bust-length, showing the handsome physician in middle-age, with black curling hair, black coat; right hand thrust into coat. One of the most distinguished physicians in New York City a century ago, Vache was physician to the Alms-House Hospital, surgeon to Bellevue, physician to the William and Centre Streets Cholera Hospitals, and also Health Officer of the City.
