Description: 1 page, 2.75 x 4.5 inches, South Hampton, November 20, 1821. Signed "Elgin" by the Earl best known for removing marble sculptures from the Parthenon in Athens. This envelope fragment includes the city, date, and a woman's name (Lady Oswald), all written in the Earl's hand with his signature on the lower left corner. Partially toned and dust-soiled; tiny closed tear on the right edge. Very good(-) condition.
