1.75 x 4.5-inch clipped signature with rank and inscription: "Truly Yours John W. Geary Bvt. Maj. Genl, U.S. Vols." Nicely framed with a gray matte and a 5.5 x 4.75-inch contemporary steel engraved half-portrait of Geary in military uniform, highlighting his sharp eyes and full beard. Outside measures 14 x 10.25 inches. No place, no date, circa 1864. Near fine condition, with slight browning at the edges.
Politician and Civil War General who served as Mayor of San Francisco and Governor of both the Kansas Territory and the State of Pennsylvania.
