1974. Orthophotograph. 27 x 25 inches. Early large format map of Herschel crater, located on Mimas, Saturn's smallest and innermost moon. It is the moon's largest crater, measuring 80 miles across and spanning 1/3 of the moon's surface. It was named after the English astronomer who discovered Mimas, William Herschel. An orthophotograph is an aerial satellite image geometrically corrected ("orthorectified") such that the scale is uniform: this photo follows a Mercator Projection. Condition is very good. More
