In this letter, Balfour respectfully declines an invitation to take part in the Fund for the Restoration of Rheims Cathedral, in part: "...I feel at once overwhelmed and ashamed at the number of somewhat similar duties which I have undertaken; and I really dare not add to their number!" Natural folds; Balfour's name written at the top of the page in another hand.....

Folio, mustard yellow cloth, d.w.; light foxing on outer edgfes and to a few pages, none affecting illustrations, dust wrapper rubbed with some chipping at spine ends. Roma: Istituto Poligrafico Dello Stato, (1965). A very good(+) copy in a very good dust wrapper.
