Jacksonport, AR. Large uncommon signature: "L.C. Gause - Jacksonport - Ark", 5.5" x 4", most likely executed while serving in the United States House of Representatives. Fine condition. American politician from Arkansas who entered the Confederate States Army as a Lieutenant, and was quickly promoted to Colonel. He was elected a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives in 1866 and was subsequently a commissioner to represent the state of Arkansas in Washington, D.C. Gause died suddenly at age 43.....
