Portland: 1914. 1 page on blind-stamped "Arlington Club Portland, Oregon" stationery, 6.5 x 5 inches, Portland, Oregon, January 18, 1914 -- ransmitting a letter by his mother, famous Polish Shakespearean actress Helena Modrezejewska (aka Madame Modjeski), to a collector, in part: "...I am sorry it is written in Polish, but all I have now are letters written to members of the family." Rust stain from a paperclip in the top margin; very good(-) condition. Polish-born American bridge designer of such.....

Illustrated with 3 large color plates, 1 of which has moveable flaps that lift to reveal the inner mechanical components of the motorcycle. Tall thin 4to, original wrappers which feature two dramatic & stylized photographic covers by Maurice Beck, printed in black with red text (rubbed and lightly foxed/stained; staples are a bit rusty which has caused some minor paper damage). (London: Shell- Mex, no date, circa 1930). A very good(+) copy.
