South Africa. Portrait. Watercolor on paper. Signed lower left. Image measures 12" x 9.5". Portrait of a Zulu girl, circa 1925. Overall toning, minor wear and tear to top edge. Small splatter stain by subject's left shoulder. Title on verso in pencil. Simoni Mnguni (1885-1956) began painting at the age of 40. He painted scenes from the Zulu culture, including landscapes and portraits.
1901. A.L.S. 8vo. 2 pages, Bellevue Terrace Hotel, February 22, 1901, accepting an initiation, in part: "...Your kind initiation came yesterday while I was away so I could not answer it sooner. It was very pleasant to find that I was still remembered after so many years and I look forward eagerly to meeting you and your family at dinner this evening, as I am sure we will have many interesting things to talk over..." There is a small piece.....
