Large unsigned preliminary sketch for a New Yorker cartoon. A sign on the door reads 'Roland Berman Doctor of Psychology'. The waiting client looks over to the coat rack, on which drapes Napoleon's hat and jacket. Wonderful tiny interior office sketches in the lower right show the artist's process. Two closed tears lower margin, two fold lines, some smudges, a drip and surface dirt but otherwise in good condition. Charles Addams (1912 - 1988), American cartoonist and illustrator best remembered for his darkly humorous and macabre cartoons which often appeared in the New Yorker magazine. A wonderful example of his work.
