Beautiful map of California and Texas from 1856. The map of Texas was drawn by E. Wells. The eastern half of the state is divided by counties, while the western half remains largely Indian territory. Notations indicate land inhabited by Apache, Comanche and Liban, and Kiowa natives. Cities, roads, towns, rivers, forts, and topographical features are labeled. Early rail lines around Galveston and Shrevesport are shown. The left portion of the map features the state of California and part of Oregon, also showing rivers, lakes, cities, towns, roads. Relief is depicted by hachure. In very good condition. Minor chips and tears to margins, not affecting the image.
