Exceptional signed 1955 cardboard lithograph Chesterfield Cigarette advertising sign, 20" X 20", with a wonderful photo of a smiling Leo Durocher in casual clothes, with a stadium background holding a cigarette - captioned: "Put A Smile In Your Smoking...Like Leo Durocher". Boldly inscribed at the top left corner "To Barry - Best Wishes - Leo Durocher", archivally set into a red mat and placed into a black wood frame, to 26" X 27". The colors on this striking piece remain as vibrant today as when this poster was printed in 1955. FINE.
DUROCHER, Leo (1905 - 1991). American professional baseball player, manager and coach who was on the championship rosters of the 1928 New York Yankees with "Murderers Row" and the 1934 St. Louis Cardinals "Gas-House Gang". Provenance: Formerly the personal property of famed baseball collector Barry Halper; Sold at Sotheby's Auction House on September 23, 1999 as part of the four day sale of the multi-million dollar Halper Collection. Acquired by a private party and subsequently sold to The Argosy Book Store.
