A collection of twelve reproductions of engravings originally published by John Boydell between 1748-1751, after drawings by Robert Short. The engravings depict the twelve French and Spanish war ships captured by the British Royal Navy during two engagements, the first by Lord Anson in May of 1747, and the second by Sir Edward Hawke and Captain Mathew Buckle in October of that year. The British Fleet acquired six ships in each engagement, bringing their total fleet to one hundred and twenty-six ships. The engravings feature the captured ships, titled as follows: 1.
