This lovely 1886 map of Texas by Frank A. Gray depicts the state of Texas in beautiful detail. Includes parts of the Indian Territory part of present day Oklahoma. The map depicts counties, towns, cities, railways, rivers, mountains, and other important topographical features throughout. Includes seven insets depicting a Hypsometric sketch of Texas and the Indian Territory, maps of Austin, Matagorda Bay, the City of Galveston, Entrance to the Galveston Bay, The River System of Texas and the southern portion of Texas. The map is in good condition with minor wear along the centerfold.
Ormando W. Gray was a map publisher active in the later half of the 19th century. A civilian engineer and surveyor, he worked with several other map publishers like Henry Walling and Colton. His state and county atlases are well known. This is a good example of his work.
