Letters Addressed to Lord Liverpool, and the Parliament, on the Preliminaries of Peace.

London: Henry Colburn, 1814.

Copperplate frontispiece portrait of Napoleon, 100 pages, untrimmed, occasional foxing, slim 8vo, bound in older 3/4 brown morocco, marbled boards, rubbed. London: Henry Colburn, 1814. First Edition. Scarce.

This series of fourteen open letters to Lord Liverpool, the Prime Minister, urges the government to be resolute with France and ruthless with Napoleon, to prevent a recurrence of imperial ambitions. The letters were begun in late 1813, in the wake of the news of the allies' victory at Leipzig (the last one is dated 20 December); they were supposedly for publication in The Courier, but in fact they never appeared in a periodical and this is their first appearance in print.
