Part of Section 4 [Upper West Side]. George W. BROMLEY, Walter S. BROMLEY.

Part of Section 4 [Upper West Side]

Philadelphia: G.W. Bromley, 1925.

Map. Lithograph with original hand coloring. Measures 11 1/4" x 16 1/8"

This ward map of Manhattan shows on the recto the area between 71st St. to 77th St., from Amsterdam Ave. to Central Park West. On the verso, it depicts from 77th St. and 83rd St., from Amsterdam Ave. to Riverside Drive. This map, showing a part of the area that makes up the Central Park West Historic District, includes several prominent buildings designated as New York City Landmarks.
Ward maps were used by fire insurance companies to determine the potential hazards of particular buildings. Color-coding indicates building materials: pink denotes brick and yellow denotes wood. The map was published in Bromley's 1925 Desktop edition of "Atlas of the City of New York, Borough of Manhattan". It is in very good condition with pleasant original coloring. This fine map shows how much New York City has changed--and hasn't--in the last hundred years.
