This vivid illustration depicts a boy holding a pitchfork, fighting off vultures circling overhead. The Boys' Working Reserve was a non-military civilian army organized by the Department of Labor in 1917. They recruited volunteer boys ages sixteen to twenty-one to help the wartime effort through agricultural, industrial, or other vocational work. In good condition, with wear to margins. Some horizontal cracks and folds to poster. Mounted on linen.
