This map of the Malabar coast in India is by John Cary and covers the southern region of the Indian subcontinent, from Bombay in south to the southern tip of India. Includes parts of the Isle of Ceylon or Sri Lanka. The map is extremely detail reflecting Cary's attention to accuracy and dedication to keeping his maps up-to-date. It is in good condition with wide margins.
John Cary (1754-1835) was a British cartographer and engraver. His highly detailed and accurate maps mark a turning point from the earlier emphasis on decoration toward a greater emphasis on information. This map is a fine example of Cary's work.
