Autograph Letter Signed

Autograph Letter Signed

Rochdale: 1823.

A.L.S. 4to. 1 page (with attached integral sheet), Rochdale, February 26 1823, to William Jerden, his editor and later publisher at the Literary Gazette Office, London, inquiring about the lack of their response to his last communications and requesting a confirmation that they are receiving his correspondence. He further reminds his friend that "I do not know what to do about writing to Davison the printer and the publishing season is fast hastening away." "I know that you have something better to engage your attention and enough to do without managing my paltry affairs, but would you be so kind enough to say if you have received my letters?" Condition: heavy water staining at the right-hand margin affecting the contrast of several words, but with no loss of text. Light soiling throughout with moderate to heavy folds. Attached integral sheet is completely in Roby's hand with exceptional postal markings. Good to very good.
