Unusual map of North and South America towards the end of the 18th century. Most of the North West is dominated by the Sea of the West, mythical sea as an extension of the Great Lakes. The map describes the area during the French and Indian war, before France gives up it's territories in mainland North America. Map also shows Pacific Islands and only part of the west coast of New Zealand is mapped. Some abrasions and stains otherwise good condition. Jean Janvier (1745-1775) was a French cartographer. Jean Lattre (1743-1793) was an engraver and map publisher based in Paris.
