From the estate of Katerine Hepburn. Original signed poster with lengthy inscription, 16.5" x 23", a gallery edition of one of her most notable works from Le Fille Spectre de la Rose, depicting a religious icon titled "Rosa Mystca", displayed at the de Saisset Art Museum at the University of Santa Clara, February 3-March 1, 1970, boldly inscribed: "To Katherine Hepburn - May this Blessed Mother of God and the Holy Spirit bring you much joy, peace and love - God Bless you Sincerely in Christ - With my very best wishes and with admiration for your beautiful art - from Kyra Nijinsky." Condition: usual folds as issued- otherwise excellent. Also included: original inscribed and signed gate fold advertisement and brochure, custom made, with original type written resume, for the "Kyra Nijinsky School of Dance Daughter of the World Famous Dancer and Choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky", 4 pages, c. 1966, with original cover image of Kyra dancing along a shoreline by famed photographer Cecil Beaton, inscribed: "To Miss Katherine Hepburn - with admiration - and best wishes from - Kyra Nijinsky". On page two she has added holograph notes including: Teacher of Woman Army Corps W.A.C. 1945 in Florence, Italy, American Red Cross Benefit Performances" and "daughter of the late Vaslav Nijinsky." Plus: original brochure from David's Gallery in San Francisco featuring biographical notes on Kyra Nijinsky's career as an artist and further informing the reader: "Her works are in the permanent collections of Margot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nureyev, and Natascha Makarova."
Ballet dancer and successful painter who was also the eldest daughter of legendary dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky. Said to be the spitting image of her father, Margot Fonteyn described a meeting with Kyra in San rancisco in 1951: "When she was describing a Russian dance she made a momentary gesture with her right arm across the brow, and I could see Nijinsky exactly. There was something in her movement and her face that expressed all there is to say about dancing in that one instant, and I can never forget it."
