Clear and simple town plan of Pompeii. Includes elevations of notable buildings along bottom edge as well as a panorama view of the ruins. In the lower left there is an inset titled "Plan of the Coast in the Vicinity of Vesuvius," showing Mt. Vesuvius on the Bay of Naples. Both Pompeii and Naples are visible. The Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge was formed in 1826 and published low cost maps with the goal of reaching a large market, while still maintaining high quality and precision.
