This volume was edited by Orson Pratt, who in 1850 was president of the British Mission. Orson Pratt was a member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles. Within the text of eight issues is: Interesting items concerning the journeying of the Latter-Day Saints from the city of Nauvoo, until their location in the valley of the Great Salt Lake by Orson Pratt. "The text is noted as having been extracted from the private journal of Orson Pratt. It was not printed as a separated work until the twentieth century..." Wagner-Camp 171. The extracts by Orson Pratt began with two issues of the Millennial Star in December, 1849 which were printed in a separate volume which is not included here. This volume contains the remaining eight issues with the extracts.
