Beautiful town plan of Edinburgh, Scotland. The compact hilly capital has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. The inset views show Edinburgh from the Dean, another of the castle and a third view of Edinburgh from the north. The Bowles family were map sellers and publishers based in London and often bought plates from other map makers. Scottish mapmaker and engraver Andrew Johnston, first published this view in 1714. He was based in London. Hard to find.
