Map. Hand colored engraving. 10 1/4" x 13 1/2".
Detailed map of Austria and surrounding dominions. Beautifully depicts the borders of what would become the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Lake Balaton in Hungary is labeled as Platten See (in German) and the map includes the Italian provinces of Lombardy, Tyrol, and Venice, as well as modern day Croatia, Slovenia, Transylvania (Romania), others. Anthony Finley (c. 1790-1840) was a prominent American cartographic publisher in the early 19th century. This map was published in "A New General Atlas", which was well received and praised for its clearness and accuracy.Very interesting time period for the borders in the region, a must-have in any collection.
