Folio [326x209 mm], early 18th-century paneled calf with gilt arms of Thomas Coningsby, 1st Earl Coningsby (1656-1729) on covers, re-backed, cover corners worn, front hinge reinforced, darkening in upper margins throughout, light dampstaining in lower outer corners toward end, occasional toning or browning, title soiled with signature of the London pharmacist Francis Bernard dated 1656 on recto and Sion College Library stamp on verso (released). Third edition of a 1498 defense of astrology written in response to Giovanni Pico della Mirandola's Disputationes contra astrologos of the same year. This edition reprints a similar work by Pirovano originally published in 1507. Thorndike V, 541-42; Zinner 2079.
