Stagg and Williams' book was the first to include diagrams and explanations of plays for coaches and teams and is considered one of the Founding Documents of the American game. Amos Alonzo Stagg played football at Yale and was later inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Stagg and Williams' Treatise on American Football is perhaps the most important book in the history of football in the United States.
