Exceedingly rare signature "R.B. Wallace -- 1st Lt. U.S. Cav.," 1.25 x 3.25 inches, written on a portion of a cover of the Journal of the United States Army, dated March 1897. Accompanied by impeccable provenance -- an attached note three weeks after his death that reads: "My brother died at Fort Huachoca March 13, 1900 and never saw your letter. I enclose an autograph signature of his -- Co. W.W. -- 4/4/1900." Bruce is rare in any format; very good condition.

United States Army officer who died of wounds received at Calicoon, Philippine Islands while leading a charge on February 10, 1899, of which he died March 13, 1900. He participated in every engagement while assigned as 1st Lieutenant of the 37th Volunteer Montana -- 2nd Cavalry.
